Got The Urge!

It's that time again...
When I've forgotten I have a blog until some recent thoughts and updates come up.  Then I get the urge to post.

UPDATES (for anyone who cares to stalk me!):
-Fall semester has started and I'm interning at an elementary school in a bilingual classroom.  In case you don't know me, I don't speak a lick of Spanish and if I do it's usually Spanglish and you can't typically translate what I'm trying to say. Also,  I would love to tell you all about my Genetics class but I'll save the cool updates for later. That's my best attempt at sarcasm this evening.

-Over the summer Peter and I toured a couple venues to hold our wedding reception at and still have not made a decision, go figure.  This upcoming weekend we would have 2 places to tour but one of the places is smack dab in the middle of Magnolia where all the Montgomery fires are happening so we decided that might not be such a great idea. Kind of scary having fires 10-20 miles from your home.

-I have the most awesome best friends back home and I can't wait for Kait and Caleb to have Cayson sooooon!!!

So I thought I would do a series about myself and my first one is my all time favorite-the list goes on and on with me :)
Some Pet Peeves and most irritating annoyances:

1. I hate when people think they know what they're talking about when they don't.
2. People telling me what to do.
3. Teacher clothes.
4. The fact that my tub clogs constantly, the joys of having thick hair.
5. When people brag about material items, unless it's Vera Bradley. You can brag about that.
6. When teachers only want to be at a college/university for research purposes but have to teach a class in       order to do that...so they don't give a rats ass and teach terribly.
7. Shelly on Big Brother, thank the good Lord she's gone.
8. Sorostitutes, the non-classy ones.
9. An even bigger annoyance-Frat daddies. gross.
10. Being indecisive .
11. When people eat my food.
12. Pessimists.
13. Feminists.
14. When people pick their nose!
15. When people don't make a list before they go to the grocery store and end up walking .0007 miles an hour down the aisles scratching their heads.
16. Uptight people.
17. The "my way or the high-way" people.
18. When people don't let you talk and interrupt every 5 seconds with their own commentary...i'm telling you a story I don't need you to talk.
19. When weenie is not here :(
20. When people procrastinate and then complain about it.

Okay I'll stop at 20.

New News!

So I realized over the past couple of months some things have changed tremendously!  I haven't blogged in a while so I'll provide an update of what's been going on.

1.) I thought it was the end of the world when Peter announced that he would be moving back to Houston (our hometown) to work, take time off of school, and live with friends.  I was devastated, I've never been that far apart from him aside from vacations and our break-up last year.  We worked out a plan to make sure we see each other as much as possible and I decided to move down to Houston for the remainder of summer to spend as much time with him as possible!

2.) While home the most exciting news happened :)  Sunday night (july 10th) after a nice dinner out with the family, we were driving back to Conroe to hang out and I saw a shooting star.  I've never seen one before so I freaked out and asked Peter if he had seen it, he said no but that I should make a wish.  So I did.  I wished that Peter would propose soon.  Anyways, we got back to the apartment and popped in a disney movie, the hunchback to be precise, and snuggled up on an air mattress in the middle of the living room.  Out of no where he proposed.  I, of course, thought he was joking so I joked back with him...but he was completely serious after I made him pinky promise me that he was serious.  So I'm ENGAGED!!! I never thought this day would come honestly or at least not so soon but I couldn't be happier.  I'm going to marry my best friend, my soul mate, and my one and only.  I cannot wait to begin a new chapter in our life together it's going to be amazing. For those who don't know we just celebrated our 5 year anniversary on July 15th!

3.)  Through all of that I also turned 21! Finally!!  We took a trip back up to San Marcos for a few days and hung out with friends and went to a few bars to celebrate! I was blessed to make it out alive.

I'm so blessed to have all of these amazing things happening to me and I couldn't be happier with my life.

Lonely

It creeps in on you when you're least expecting it. You tell yourself you can't be lonely and give reasons to justify why you shouldn't be but yet it still remains. It sits in you, in the pit of your stomach, entwined with your heart-they battle. You succumb to the overpowering nature of this disease and fall back-you're defeated. At once upon a time you shuddered at the sound of it and now you're held captive. It's grip is tight and you're running out of time to find the light again. Let it go. You pray this doesn't last long but sometimes you never know...

I hope everyone has at least one person there for them when they're feeling especially lonely. I pray you always have someone there to catch you when you fall and that you always have a good feeling knowing. I pray someone sings about you or writes you love letters and that at night you have someone to help you fall asleep. I hope you always have someone to cook you your favorite thing for breakfast on your birthday. I pray that no one has to run from anything and always has a place to go. I pray you always have someone that loves you. keep the peace.

Whoops

I've forgotten once again to update my blog, as usual. sorry for anyone who actually reads this...lol.

Some things that happened this past month:
1.) I made the deans list, yay me!
2.) I started summer school, boooo.
3.) Lucy baby turned 10 months...not that exciting but she's almost a Lucy girl instead of baby :)
4.) I got some sweet new shoes, vibram five fingers.
5.) I've decided to go to pastry school when I'm done with college.

Some things to look forward to:
1.) My birthday along with a nice trip to Las Vegas.
2.) Finishing summer school.
3.) Transformers 3...duh.

While I sit here on my couch trying to think of something to write about in my blog so as not to disappoint my readers, I'm also multitasking by watching Pirates of the Caribbean (doesn't matter which one).  Also, I'm currently reading Wicked, the book not the play.  I was trying to think about something interesting to write about that was worth reading and not a bunch of facebook statuses jammed into a paragraph, my mind wondered.  Here I am reading a book about a fairytale land with fairytale creatures and magic, and mystery, and all things impossible in our known world.  I can't help but get lost in this book once I start reading it and although it's an incredibly slow read, I'm hooked and can't shake the rush I get with every new chapter.  I usually create images of what the characters look like in my head and imagine the land that they live in.  I build their houses and cultivate their landscape.  I dress them and decorate their rooms.  I take what the author has laid out for me to read and turn it into a "movie-type-thing" in my head.  Sometimes I write myself in as an innocent bystander watching the whole thing play out as I read it.  Interesting? Yes! Weird? Definitely! But what can I say, my imagination runs wild like the wind.  I take pride in that.

I usually reach a point where I have to put the book down and take my life off of pause and continue with my day.  Then, it hits me.  I miss that fantasy world where Animals can talk and you can attend college to learn sorcery and magic.  Where some people are born incredibly short and pink but are called munchkins, not midgets.  And there's real royalty and cool wizards and a yellow brick road.  It sounds like heaven bound in a hardback book.  I find myself waiting for the moment when I can pick the book back up again and continue reading...once again I place myself in the story and watch everything explode in front of me, nothing else matters.
Then, while I'm watching Pirates of the Caribbean,  I find my mind wondering again (like usual). "What if life was really like this?  What if there were real pirates that turned to skeleton at night, or boats that could plunge the deep blue seas and surface with weird sea creature people?"  It just seems so far fetched but I wish it were real so badly that when I come out of my entrancement I'm saddened by the sad reality that is our world.  Not that my life is terrible or that I have anything to really complain about.  I just really wish I could go to Hogwarts or another school of it's sort and learn some dang spells.  I feel like the world would be so much fun!

I often wonder if anyone else thinks the same way I do when they read a book or if anyone else wishes that we could live in a beautiful fantasy world with witches and mermaids, cool pirates and goblins, talking animals and magic.

Since our world is the way that it is...I will continue to live in my imaginary fantasy world, which for me makes life so special and interesting, and return to reality to go to bathroom and eat.

Annoyed...

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."

-Mahatma Gandhi

Just think about it...
We are all created by God and no matter what you believe in we are all still human beings.  In my opinion, taking a human life is never "okay" unless in self defense and I mean literal self defense.  It's pathetic in my opinion regardless of what the other party has accomplished.

I leave you with this quote from the good ole' bible...you know that thing that many people seem to forget about, no wonder people are so lost these days.

Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with brotherly affection; outdo one another in showing honor.  Never flag in zeal, be aglow with the Spirit, serve the Lord.  Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.  Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.  Live in harmony with one another; do not by haughty, but associate with the lowly; never be conceited.  Repay no one evil with evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If possible, so far as it depends upon you, live peaceably with all.  Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God; for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord."  No, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head."  Do not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Craving...

Okay this diet thing is worse than I thought...they usually are.  I figured "eh, 17 days NO BIGGIE, chicken and lettuce I won't get sick of it..." wrong was I.  This is very difficult for me, I love to indulge in homemade comfort foods, carbs, sweets (a plethora of sweets might I add).  This plain sucks.  I keep telling myself "hey your already 3 days in you can do it".  I am this close to going downstairs and grabbing a 100 calorie snack, more specifically the fudge crackers.  Actually I'm even closer to driving to chick fil a for a banana cream shake or a piece of chocolate cake from the grocery store.  I am literally starving.  If you started this diet because you saw my post...good for you!  I don't mean to discourage you in any way. I've stuck to my diet thus far and I plan on sticking to it for the rest of the 17 days.  If I make it GREAT! If I don't...GREAT!  Maybe I just need motivation.

Just for venting purposes, here are my current top cravings :)

My biggest craving right now would be a super moist, dense, flavorful Lemon Poppyseed Pound cake...YUM!

Some Burger King french fries :)

A slice of chocolate cheesecake!

Any hot dog with ketchup, cheese, mustard, and relish would suffice.

A sausage and cheese kolache please...preferably from Dos Gatos.

AND last but not least, a coke!!  The cold, bubbly, fizzy-ness of it all sounds so delicious right now...sigh.

If you're dieting, I hope you're having better luck ;)
Have a blessed day!

Battle of the Bulge!

I started a new diet today, the 17 day diet.  Look it up it's legit.  I'm the last person to just "try" something and fall for the BS but this diet is great so far...we'll see in 17 days how far I get.  Then I start the next cycle which is another 17 days of recipes and exercise :)  I think with motivation and God's strength I can get through the first tough cycle and truly make this a lifestyle change.

I'll update you on my progress frequently.

In other news: Hugh Hefner is getting married soon...again.  I discovered I love greek yogurt and truvia.  My cat is amazing :)

I'll leave you with a song, my favorite song.

Have a blessed day.

For Today...

We'll start off with a new song for you to listen to, unless you've already heard it!  Here's the video for it to watch also :) they're attractive.

AND....

...Finally the tissue paper flowers

Okay, so you can go to any store that carries tissue paper and get any color(s).  Usually they're folded up in the package so try, if you can, to flatten them out a little before you start.

You'll need:
Tissue paper at least a package or two.
Scissors.
Floral wire.  ( I got mine at hobby lobby in the flower section but I'm sure you could find it a Michaels or any other craft store.  Mine is also green.)

So to start off grab 2 flat pieces of tissue paper, keep them together.  Start folding back in forth, as if you were making a fan (I usually keep the folds about 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches).

After you're done folding to the very end cut a piece of your floral wire, about 6-8 inches (enough for you to fold it in half and fit the paper in it and have leftover wire at the bottom to twist, you be the judge.)

Before you cut your wire and fit it around the tissue paper, you can cut your tissue paper to the desired size.  Because I like smaller flowers, I cut mine smaller.  In the picture it's about 6-7 inches long.

Next you're going to fan out, pull apart, your tissue paper so the two sides meet.

From here you're going to separate the two pieces of tissue paper, it's going to feel like you're ripping them so be careful and don't pull too hard.

After you put the wire around the folded tissue paper, you should have twisted the leftover at the bottom, this is going to be the bottom of your flower.  After you've pulled the two sheets apart, pull the bottom layer up close to the top layer to create the flower.  Mess around with it until you like what you see.

To make the stem just cut a longer piece of your floral wire and twist it around the twisted piece of your flower.

You can even add something in the middle if you would like like a button.
Also, instead of doing to layers of the same tissue paper, you could layer two different colors!

I hope the pics helped, have fun with your flowers!

The Little Things...

For me personally it's the little things that get me through the day.  I've always fancied myself an optimist (obviously from my previous post) and I'm glad I can turn something bad into something good or never let a bad day get me down...probably why I hardly ever cry (and that is the truth people!). I know I can rely on God for anything.  Whatever burdens I may have from day to day, I let them go and let God take care of them.  Think of it this way:  God is the driver of the car, you be the passenger, let God take the wheel and steer you in the right direction! It will bring you much peace if you just learn to let it go and not worry about so many things in life.  Everything will be worked out in the end and your journey through life will be much more rewarding and satisfying if you just take the future as it comes and tell yourself "it's going to be okay, the Lord has my back" and He does!  He wont let the righteous fall!  Anxiety leads to a heavy heart, let it go and live in the peace of the Lord.

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"

Matthew 6:25-27

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble"

Psalm 46:1

And my personal favorite:

Trust the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6

It also helps to breath :)

Have a blessed day!

The Floater

I've had this "floater" in my eye for about 2 weeks now.  I'm a hypochondriac so of course the second I believe something is wrong with my eye, I diagnose myself with retina detachment.  It turned out to be just a floater lol but I was still worried nonetheless.  It's still here though.  So I've returned to my previous diagnosis and I'm just waiting for the moment I suddenly go blind in one eye, super.

Also I didn't get the chance to make the potato salad (for picture purposes) but I do have the recipe...I'll put it up later.  As well as the tissue flowers I'm making.
But I can provide you with a joke just in case you were hoping to come here today and take away something.

Only because I have chemistry early in the morning tomorrow:

Two atoms were drinking in a bar
Atom 1 said frantically "I think I lost an electron"
Atom 2 replied "Oh no, are you sure?"
Atom 1: "I'm positive"

hahaha, probably the only one to find that funny but oh well.

Making Memories

Sooo...today I helped a good friend of mine build her portfolio (she's a photography minor). We went out to a river nearby, with the boyfriend, and took lots of cute photos. This one is my favorite!  We also took a few silly ones with my kitty before we left, they're hilarious lol.

She's pretty angry with us in this picture, I tied a tissue paper flower around her neck lol.

I'll post the "how to: tissue paper flowers" tomorrow as well as a really good potato salad recipe!

Hope you all had an amazing day!

Some Encouragement...

I'M AN OPTIMIST PRIME :)
Haha I love this...just something to keep in mind!

Also I found this new musician I like SANDERS BOHLKE, he's pretty legit.

Here's a song of his that I like, the name of the song is "till my days are through"

Exciting News!

We are all blessed every day with things, most are little things that we don't notice.  Sometimes we are lucky to experience BIG blessings! None the less, they are all amazing.  I found out yesterday that one of my closest friends and her fiance are expecting a baby! YES! Getting married before they hit this milestone would have been the best decision but I believe children are a gift from the Lord regardless of the situation.  Therefore, I couldn't be happier for them and I can't wait for the little one to be here so I can be an "aunt".  She thinks it's going to be a boy but I refuse to accept that so I'm hanging on to the idea of it being a girl.

Funny story to go with this, I went this past weekend to get fitted for my bridesmaid dress and proceeded to pay $135 for it as well.  Later that evening I received a call from her explaining how she thought she was pregnant and that if it were true they would be pushing the wedding back till May.  Well it's true and I have a bridesmaid dress that I hope still fits in a year when May comes around.

 The happy couple :)

In other news, I was also asked to be the Maid of Honor in another close friends wedding!! Exciting day :)

First Blog

I redid my blog, I have a new attitude on life.  All things are new and I'm beginning to discover the Grace of God that truly surrounds us all and I only hope I can share and pass this on to whomever reads this!  Life is pretty fantastic as of now.  Aside from the weather and pollen causing me headaches I honestly have nothing to complain about!  I plan to share my thoughts, opinions, wisdom, and what the Lord has shown me on here.

So, my first entry will be about what I have come to discover over the last few weeks and I am very happy with myself for overcoming my selfishness and insecurities!  Recently, the option to move in with my boyfriend (of almost 5 years) came up in conversation.  At first I was shocked and then became very excited.  I hadn't known that he had this in mind AT ALL.  It was a complete surprise.  The only thing, at this point, from keeping us from doing it was his parents.  We weren't sure how they would take it and if they would approve of our decision.  We decided not to take any measures toward it until we discussed it further with them.  We made a quick trip home and sat them down to get their advice.  Before I go any further I'll give you a brief description of them.  They're the most wonderful people I know.  Together they are rich in faith, funny to watch, and always mindful of each other.  They've been together for over 20 years and have brought each other to Christ our savior.  They continue to strive to be good Christian-Catholics and I trust their opinion more than anyone else's.  They always offer great advice and it's not just "their opinion" it's what the Lord says as well.  Anyways, we told them what we were thinking and they calmly explained to us why we were wrong.  The best things in life are what the Lord gives you and the Lord has brought me Peter.  You should admire and take care of what He has given you and we should be mindful with what He is asking of us.  To share a marriage bed with each other should be saved for, obviously, when we are married.  Not before.  It would be selfish for us to do otherwise.  Being married is a commitment in the eyes of the Lord, it's a holy union.  It was a long discussion and it would take forever to explain it all but it brought things to light and I now truly understand why we should wait to share that moment until we are together, it's meant for marriage which is indefinite. I also have statistics!!  with scriptures of course!  Peter and I are very confidant in our decision to wait and it will make all the more beautiful when it finally happens :)

http://www.rayfowler.org/2008/04/18/statistics-on-living-together-before-marriage/

These statistics are pretty interesting in my opinion.

Have a blessed day!
